Why Gibraltar?

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory located at the southern tip of Spain, at the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea. Its main attraction is the monumental Rock of Gibraltar, visible from many kilometers away.

Best time to visit: March–June, September–October
In summer it can be very hot and crowded.

Monkeys – Barbary Macaques

Gibraltar is the only place in Europe where monkeys live in the wild.

Main Street

Border & Access

Gibraltar is not part of the Schengen Area.

  • pedestrian border crossing from La Línea (Spain),
  • queues are possible when entering by car,
  • the airport runway crosses the main road.

Fun Facts

  • English is the official language, but Spanish is also widely spoken,
  • the local currency is the Gibraltar pound,
  • on a clear day you can see Africa from the Rock.

1 day – Rock, caves, Main Street (more than enough)
2 days – plus extra walks in the nature reserve and viewpoints.
