Royal Palace (Palacio Real)

Retiro Park
The largest park in the city center.

The main artery of the city – shops, cinemas and early 20th-century architecture.
Plaza Mayor & Puerta del Sol
The historic heart of Madrid:
- Plaza Mayor – a monumental rectangular square,
- Puerta del Sol – Spain’s symbolic “kilometre zero”.
Districts Worth Visiting
Malasaña
An alternative, artistic area – cafés and vintage shops.
La Latina
The best place for tapas, especially on weekends.
Barrio de las Letras
The Writers’ Quarter – associated with Cervantes and Lope de Vega.
Transport
- Metro – one of the best systems in Europe,
- a 10-ride ticket (Metrobús) is the cheapest option,
- from the airport to the city center: metro line 8 or Cercanías trains.
