ONE OF THE MOST MYSTERIOUS BOOKS IN THE WORLD – THE EMERALD TABLET – KYBALION: HERMETIC PRINCIPLES.
Written by the mysterious author Hermes Trismegistus “Thrice Great”(some sources say it was a god Thoth himself), and published by the mysterious name “the Three Initiates”. We don’t know the time of origin (first translation was found in around VI century) and there’s also many legends about how it was found, including the discovery of a tomb with a corpse of a man inside sitting on the golden throne holding the emerald tablet. We also don’t have the tablet… Yet, all those factors haven’t discouraged people from studying the laws of our world contained in the tablet. What we do know is that many great minds like Newton, were fascinated and translated the book in XVII century.
If you’ve never heard about it before, you might think that it’s some old, dusty philosophy, but knowledge is power and this one can take us to the whole new level.
There are two similar books! Here we are talking about the short “emerald tablet” written by Hermes Trismegistus.
Before we go to the most interesting part, here are some key words that could be useful to understand it as a whole:
- Thoth is the ancient Egyptian god of words (writing and hieroglyphs), science, wisdom. Usually depicted as a man with the head of an ibis.
Hermes is the Greek version of a similar god of communication, often called the divine messenger. (The ancient Greek mythology is younger than Egyptian). Roman name is Mercury. - There is a legend saying that Thoth came to Egypt from sinking Atlantis the mythic island where people knew the principles of life & death on this planet and of the universe, were highly advanced, lived among wild animals, ate only fresh fruits and vegetables. Plato described it as the ideal state, many also see it as the garden of Eden.
- Hermeticism is a philosophy based on the writings of Hermes Trismegistus.
(I have found information on the internet that it is from around II century AD, but the first translation of the emerald tablet is from VI… If you have more information, please share in the comment). - Kybalion, “Kybalion: hermetic philosophy” a book published incognito in 1908.
Ancient scripts are written symbolically for the future generations so people could understand them regardless times they live in, trends, religions, and so on, (notice that there are also different calendars so important events that ancient people were predicting are given based on the view of the sky – astrology).
What’s the content of the mysterious tablet?
That’s the most interesting part! Actually, the whole modern “law of attraction” is based on these principles. Parts of it can be also found in many traditional sayings, teachings, religions. We can analyse it to deeply understand the world and level up our life.
Seven hermetic principles:
- The law of mentalism
“The all is mind; the universe is mental.”
Everything begins with thoughts.
What we think we become.
We attract what we think.
We can change our world by changing our thoughts.
If you think god thoughts – you attracts good thinks. - The law of correspondence
“As above, so below, as below, so above. As within, so without, as without, so within.”
There are constant links between the mental, physical and spiritual planes.
Your external or physical world is a reflection of your own inner world. If you want to change your life, you must first change your feelings, thoughts, perceptions, emotions, focus, attention. - The law of vibration
“Nothing rests; Everything moves; Everything vibrates.”
Life is a constant change.
Like attracts like.
You must be a vibrational match to whatever it is that you want to manifest. This is done by simply feeling good about having it.
Everything is a unique vibration low or high. In order to have a happy, fulfilling life, you will benefit from aiming to become a source of high energy. - The law of polarity
“Everything is dual, everything has poles and everything has its pair of opposites”
Light and dark exists to maintain the balance.
If we wouldn’t experience what we don’t want – we wouldn’t appreciate what we want.
Opposites are identical in nature yet different in degree. - The law of rhythm
“Everything flows, out and in; Everything has its tides; All things rise and fall.”
Universe has its own cycle. Growing and dying.
“There’s a time for everything. A time to laugh and a time to cry. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to work and time to rest”. It’s a respect for the seasons of nature.
If something didn’t work out for you once, it doesn’t mean it never will! - The law of cause and effect
“Every cause has its effect; Every effect has its cause.”
What you plant, you will harvest.
In some culture called karma.
Action & reaction.
Start planting love, kindness, peace today. The Universe will multiply whatever you sow and give it back to you. - The law of gender
“Gender is in everything; Everything has its masculine and feminine principles.”
It’s not really about biological sex but energy as we all have both masculine and feminine energies.
It is very beneficial to learn differences between them and find our own balance, use them depending on the situation, f.eks. at work we can align with our masculine energy to do all the tasks (action), but at home we can align with our feminine energy to be more warm for our beloved, slow and relaxed.
In order to manifest something we desire in our life, we need to create it in our mind (feminine) and take action (masculine).
If you are a person who wants to grow, have a positive impact on the world, make good changes, there’s many way to introduce these laws in to the daily life. It is easier to accept that there are rules in this world and live according to them instead of waisting our time, efforts, energy. It is like sailing with the wind, not battling against it.
